Phone's Battery Optimization

Does your smartphone's battery drains too fast??

Here are some tried and tested battery saving and charging tips to optimize your cell phone's battery.

1. Reduce the brightness of your phone's display.
(use a 'backlight on/off' widget for efficiency)

2. Switch off the internet when not in use ( as if you didn't know this :)
IMP* - Battery life improves by using Wi-Fi instead of cellular data networks for browsing.

3. Switch off the background data also when you switch off the internet. Some applications keep using background data even when internet is off. Switching off background data improves battery.

4. Do not keep synchronizing your phone with google, facebook etc all the time.

5. During a long journey when signal strength is weak, put your phone in airplane mode. When signal strength is weak, phone keeps scanning for signal reducing its battery backup.

6. Try to recharge your phone to its full capacity when it gets almost fully discharged ( this is what I do... And it works!)

7. Minimize use of location services such as google maps, GPS, Places etc.

8. Turn off Bluetooth, GPS and Wi-Fi when not in use. And as I said earlier - Battery life improves by using Wi-Fi instead of cellular data networks for browsing (given Wi-Fi signal strength is good).

9. Keep your mobile's software up to date. (Yes, this helps)

10. Listen to music via headphone. Loudspeaker uses more battery.

Even after this, if your battery backup doesn't improve, buy a portable charger. Belkin, ETO, Nextech etc are some companies which provide portable charger. It should cost you around 2000 - 3500 bucks(INR). They are available online at Flipkart.
